2. What are your services and prices?

We are committed to superior service at competitive prices. Because our work is a reflection on our company, we will ensure that you have a site that reflects well on yours also.

With the exception of updates made on sites that we did not create or host, there is no hourly charge for our work.

Our services include:

Web Site Design

$300 deposit

Along with the creation of your Web site, this package includes domain name registration, email addresses (optional), and search engine optimization.

From start to finish, Northset will work closely with you to build a Web site you will be proud of. We can either host it for you for a monthly charge (see below), or upload it to your server.

Depending on the types of services requested, we will notify you if any additional charges would be incurred.

Hosting and Maintenance

$50 per month

If you choose to let us host your site on our third-party professional servers, our maintenance plan ensures that your Web site receives the care it deserves. This fee covers monthly hosting costs as well as any updates you may request. Northset will monitor the site and back it up on a regular basis. Moreover, you will receive an email during the first week of each month detailing visitor statistics for your Web site from the previous month.

For your convenience, your hosting plan and domain name will automatically be renewed annually unless you request otherwise.

Updates

$30 per hour

We can assist with updates for your Web site even if we did not create or host it. If we host your site, updates are covered in the monthly hosting plan.

Web Site CD-ROM/DVD-ROM

$30

At your request, we can provide a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM of your completed Web site, which can be useful as a backup tool.

Favicon

$20

A favicon ("favorites icon") is a great way to personalize your site. It is a customized graphic that visitors to your Web site will see, along with the site name, if they bookmark your site or create a shortcut to it. If we build your site, this service is automatically included as part of your web design package.

3. What is your approach to Web design?

Each Web site we build is hand-coded from scratch without the use of any templates, so you will have a site that you can truly call your own.

We strive to create fast-loading sites that are as flexible and cross compatible as possible (i.e., sites that function across multiple Internet browsers and screen resolutions) and still attractive. In addition, our sites utilize CSS and XHTML capabilities, allowing them to be viewed across multiple devices such as cell phones, PDAs, and other wireless devices.

Because we believe that content is king, we employ a "less is more" approach that emphasizes substance and usability over bells and whistles.

4. Do you do any work with Flash?

We do not build Flash sites for several reasons:

- Many people still do not have the Flash Player installed and would be required to download the plugin, which some find inconvenient.

- Flash is not search engine friendly. When search engines check the Internet for Web sites, they tend not to look closely at Flash sites because the Flash code is hidden.

- Unlike Flash pages, standard HTML and CSS pages can easily be translated into different languages using tools available on the Internet.

5. Is there a minimum or maximum number of Web pages I can have?

No, you can have as many or as few as you would like.

6. How will I get my files to you?

Images, text, and other files can be sent to us through email. Please note that we strongly discourage copying any content from Web sites whose owners have not directly given permission for their use. Any content that we use on your site must belong to you or have been released by its owners.

7. Will you visit my company?

We will certainly visit if possible. Failing this, we can always discuss your site via email or phone.

8. Who will own the domain name and the site once it is complete?

You will own both regardless of whether or not Northset hosts your site. The copyrights to the Web site content will be transferred to you upon its completion.

9. Will you inform me when my domain name and hosting is due to expire?

We will contact you well in advance to notify you when they are about to expire.

10. How do I transfer my details to you from another Web site design company?

We need to have your domain name transferred to one of our name servers. Once this is done, then we can offer you the benefits of our hosting package. If in doubt as to how you need to do this, please let us know who your current Web hosting company is and we will work with them on your behalf.
